Indeed, Mr. Björnsson?

Anders Björnsson has published an article on Newsmill titled ”Engelskans expansion försämrar tänkandet” (roughly translated to ”The expansion of English is causing thinking to deteriorate”).

His conclusion seems to be that the fact that more and more people across the world is getting a common linguistic ground to stand on is something to regret. Apparently solid boundaries between people, cultures and countries are to be preferred, for some reason I cannot quite seem to grasp. To me it seems rather like a beneficial factor for peace and prosperity to have such common grounds.

But then again, Björnssons ”pad on the head”-argument that people generally doesn’t master English anyway, truly does prove his point that we should fight its expansion every step of the way. Or does it, now…?
